Introducing You To Clearing And What It Means
So What Is Clearing ?
Clearing is a way for Universities to fill any spaces they have after they have got all the students in who recieved the required grades. This gives applicants that second chance to finding a University place, when they do not get the required grades to go to their first or second choice. Clearing is still a part of the UCAS process therefore it is done through the UCAS website like the normal applying for Uni in the first place. Clearing could be for you if you haven’t met your Uni’s specifications or you have changed your mind.
When Does The Clearing Process Take Place ?
Clearing starts in mid-july, which you might thinks sounds a bit odd as you might still be waiting for your results at this point. A-Level students recieve their results around 18th August where Scottish students get their results around 4th August and even those who go to college might get a final result by the end of their school year before summer begins, therefore everyone gets results differently but as it opens early it can start getting people processed.
If you are wondering how long the Clearing window stays open for then it is right up until 24th October – however you need to have your Clearing application must be submitted by 20th September. It is always likely that most Clearing places will be allocated within the first week, but some will be available for much longer – therefore you must get in their as soon as you know you need to.
Do You Need To Go Through Clearing ?
- Do you hold no offers ?
- Have your offers not been confirmed because you are yet to meet the conditions ?
- Have you declined the offer ?
- Have you not responded due to the date ?
- Have your offers not been confirmed and you have declined any alternative offers ?
- You were late to apply – after 30th June ?
If any of the above questions have you thinking or is your predicament then you need to look further into clearing through UCAS.
Where To Apply For Clearing ?
You can apply to any University and to any course, it doesn’t have to be your original choices which you sent off in your first UCAS application. If you do change Uni choice or course type then make sure it is the right choice for you and look into it all the while making a speedy decision. You need to go through Clearing on the UCAS website where they have all live and up-to-date information.
