The Race – British Grand Prix 2012

The organisers of Silverstone have said they are ready for everyone. With a dramatic start to the British Grand Prix race weekend, where problems with campsites and grass car parks led to a meltdown of the new multi-million pound traffic system on Friday, organisers elected to deter fans holding car park passes from attending on qualifying day yesterday but that move appeared to have paid off, with Silverstone’s managing director Richard Phillips claiming that the action has given the track the room it needed to make proper preparations for the expected 125,000 strong crowd on race day.

Hamilton, qualified eighth overall, after Q2 was red-flagged for 90 minutes because of the treacherous conditions around the famous Northamptonshire circuit. Hamilton’s colleague Button went out in the first stage of qualifying after posting only the 18th fastest time of Q1. The other Brit competing in the race today Paul Di Resta qualified in 11th – with the British contentions spread equally about lower down the grid will this hamper the chances or will the British weather provide a better race opportunity.
