We all know that this is the time of year when students are returning home for summer or finishing up, and so comes the time to get a job. It is not an easy time but here we have a few tips to gaining access to finding a job.

A few sites to take note of are CV-Library, TotalJobs, Guardian Jobs, Monster, Reed, Indeed.co.uk, Adzuna – there are so many other websites.

Graduate Jobs

Here’s our top 5 tips that include what to do and how to use these job sites to find a job or a job find you.

1. Make sure your CV is Up-To-Date

Before signing up to any job site or passing your CV over to a company, invest some time in updating it. Make sure your opening ‘About Me’ section really covers you as a person and what you can offer, then start with your skills and concentrate on your degree. Many graduates don’t have much work experience so you need your CV to be shaped around what you do know from your time at University and higher school. The bottom line is the employer will want to know what you can offer them; even if you don’t have work experience in the particular role you are applying for, your degree would have given you more than adequate skills.

2. Sign Up and Register Your CV

Once you have re-written or touched up your CV, register with several sites and upload your CV as well as your covering letter in some cases. Doing this, recruiters and employers can then headhunt you directly and contact you with details about relevant graduate vacancies. This will save you time in the long run, however you should not rely on this to be guaranteed a job.

3. Do Your Research

Take some time and have a look on some other sites at what graduate jobs are being advertised in your sector and the skills/experience required. This will help you write your cover letters and alter your CV to suit a general type of job as well as highlight the relevant skills you’ve gained throughout university.

4. Search Jobs Online

Online job boards, such as JobSite, CV-Library, CVWow, Reed and Monster are the perfect place to start. You can search and apply to thousands of jobs directly from your computer and by registering your CV, recruiters will be able to headhunt you most of the time with the click of a few buttons.

5. Make sure you Follow Up

It can be very frustrating when you make job applications and you don’t hear anything back. It is strongly recommend contacting the employer or recruitment agency directly to ensure they have received your application, this will stand out as you showing a strong interest in the position.

The winter drags on and feels never ending with the cold days and nights, all of a sudden summer is around the corner and you realize you need to get in shape fast to wear that bikini. The problem is, how do you get that summer body in a quick time. There are several ways in which you can go down to get your body toned and slimmed in time for summer, the only major rule being that you are committed to achieving your goals.

3 Ways To Stay On Track for the Summer Body

Commit to Change

The first thing that you must do to get your summer body is to commit the time and effort to making changes necessary to achieving results. You can’t just wish your body into shape; you must devote the time and be ready to sacrifice to achieve the results you want. The biggest factor in failing is down to lack of commitment Provided you have the motivation and the commitment you have already cleared the biggest hurdle to getting your body in shape for summer. The rest are as follows.

Exercise to Lose Weight

It goes without saying, no weight loss plan or tone up plan is complete without some type of exercise program. The amount and kinds of exercise you must do will vary depending on your weight loss goals, but cardio and toning need to be an integral part of every plan. To determine how much cardio you need, you must first determine how much weight you want to lose. There are 3,500 calories in a pound, so for each pound you want to lose, you will need to burn 3,500 calories. The type of cardio isn’t exactly important, but high impact will burn more calories faster, so if you only have a month to burn the fat you’ll need to opt for high impact training regimes such as spinning, step aerobics, running and swimming. To maximize your fat burning, be sure to cross train, doing at least two different cardio activities each week. Cardio should be performed at least 3 times a week for 45 – 60 minutes each session.

Dieting for Weight Loss

Te word diet is heated and loved amongst people, but it must be done to get the summer body you are looking for. There are a huge amount of diets to choose from, but the bottom line is this: weight loss occurs when you burn more calories than you take in, regardless of which diet you choose. The best advice is to eat healthy, well balanced meals to keep your energy level up and your body in top shape to exercise. One thing to keep in mind about dieting, diets does not involve starving yourself as starving yourself can actually cause you to gain weight, as your body fights back, so be sure to eat regular meals, but in sensible portions.

Grand Prix 2013

Monaco is with out a doubt the most glitz and glam formula 1 race of the calendar. Racing through the streets of Monaco holds many and varied challenges – racing within the tight confines of the Principality, drivers are very light on areas they can afford to make a mistake, and there’s absolutely nowhere you can make a big error and get away with it. As well as a confined, barrier-lined circuit, the drivers have to contend with a track surface that is far from ideal, which is mainly being used as public roads throughout the year.

This year we will be tipping Mark Webber to come in top throughout the streets of Monaco. Qualifying is going to be the most important part of the weekend with whoever finishes on pole position is likely to finish on the podium.

Today, Microsoft have unveiled its new Xbox. It is called One – the Xbox One, displaying a device that takes new steps in game consoles’ journey to becoming an all-purpose entertainment and communication devices straight into living and bedrooms throughout the globe. The new console replaces the Xbox 360, which has been on the market for nearly eight years – and this new Xbox is definitely a step up.

One of the new device’s most striking features is the ability to run multiple apps at once — and to split a TV screen into different tasks. That means Xbox One owners will be able to watch live TV, while taking part in a Skype video chat, or surfing the web. And many of those tasks can be accomplished by using either hand gestures or voice commands.

Many details emerged in a rush about the new console, which has 8 gigabytes of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive. Here are some of the key features include:

Integration with live TV, music, movies and games

Remarkably sharp switching from games to TV, the internet and other functions

8GB ram

Blu-Ray drive

64-bit architecture

Silent operation

Built both on the Xbox OS and the Windows kernel to bring new levels of performance to the living room

Improved voice control

Upgraded Kinect that is so accurate it can read your heartbeat when you exercise

Updated controller with integrated battery, precision D-pad

Integration with Smartglass – an already announced method to control your Xbox with tablets and phones, including Android and iOS devices

New Xbox Live service – “more powerful, more personal, more intelligent” built on more than 300,000 servers

The announced games include:

FIFA 14 with exclusive Ultimate Team features

Madden 25, NBA and UFC games

Quantum Break, a new action-adventure

Forza 5

Call of Duty: Ghosts

Vouchers and coupons can be extremely helpful when it comes to buying products online and in-store if you are looking to save money. Not only does it give you ideas of new products and foods to buy you never would without a voucher, it also allows you a cheap alternative and great deals. Vouchers have become a massive part of shopping with not only students looking to save some money. With no need to carry the vouchers, just grab a code online, you could be making significant savings. Being smart with your coupons and being a savvy shopper can mean you can save hundreds of pounds every month, depending on what you are buying.

Where to get Coupons and Vouchers from

Printable money off Vouchers online:

You might notice that quite a lot of the time you will come across printable money off vouchers or free food vouchers on certain discount sites and specific supermarket sites. They usually require you to just enter some quick details (name and email address) and then they will make the voucher/coupon available to be downloaded or they will email you your discount voucher to print off. Many of these types of vouchers can be time limited and can prove very popular so they can in some instances all get snapped up very quickly.

Money off Vouchers on food you have bought:

Be sure to check the packaging of any food or items you buy as you may find that there is a money off coupon attached to them somewhere where you can get a free product or money off next time you purchase this product. If it is a product that you regularly buy then be sure to use the voucher. Don’t get pulled into spending money on something just for the sake of it, even if it is reduced as this is not always good and sees you spending more money on a product you may not actually like or use just for the sake of it!

Magazines and Newspapers:

Many magazines and newspapers will have coupons inside that can be cut out and redeemed against certain products so keep your eyes peeled when flicking through any of these. Also, supermarkets quite often produce their own magazines that are free to pick up in store, they quite often contain recipes and various articles along with vouchers for money off items that they sell. Scan through these for any that are relevant to you.

Step 2: Baked beans

Pour half a can of baked beans into a small saucepan.

Step 3: Heat

Gently heat the beans over a low heat for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Don’t let the beans come to the boil.

Step 4: Toast

While the beans are heating toast the bread and spread butter over them.

Step 5: Serve

Once the beans have been heated through, pour them over the buttered toast. You may want to sprinkle the grated cheese over the beans to add extra flavour.

9 . Ham and Cheese Omelette

What you’ll need -

2 eggs
50 ml milk
1 slice ham
1/2 stalk green onion
5 ml margarine
50 ml cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper

Step 1 – Wash and chop green onion.
Step 2 - Wash and slice ham.
Step 3 - In a mixing bowl, combine eggs, ham, milk, onion, salt and pepper. Beat well.
Step 4 - Heat skillet on medium and melt margarine.
Step 5 - Pour egg mixture into skillet. As the omelette begins to set, lift up edges with egg flipper so uncooked portion of egg can flow under the cooked portion.
Step 6 - When eggs are set but the top is still moist, sprinkle ¾ of the cheese over it.
Step 7 – Fold one edge of the omelette over the cheese, then sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
Step 8 – Slide omelette onto the plate and cut into portions.

8 . Easy Bacon Soup

Carrot

Parsnip

Onion

Step 1 – Peel and chop up all the vegetables and put in pan/slow cooker.
Step 2 – Add bacon bits and enough water to cover the vegetables leave to simmer until everything has softened and then mash everything up. If you are not using a slow cooker putting in an oven at a low heat may be a good idea. You could also roast the vegetable first as well.
Step 3 – Season to taste with salt and pepper

7 . Cheesy Jacket potato

125ml sour cream

50g shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese, divided

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 220C/Gas Mark 7.

Step 2 – Set the potatoes directly on the rack in the centre of the oven and bake until easily pierced with a fork, about 1 hour. Remove from the oven and turn the heat down to 200C/Gas Mark 6.

Step 3 – Cut a slit in the top of the potatoes and carefully scoop out the flesh into a bowl, leaving the shells intact. Mash the potato lightly with a fork. Add the butter, sour cream, and 35g of the cheese, and salt and pepper to taste. Refill the shells with the potato mixture mounding it slightly.

1 tbsp dried porcini mushrooms

2 tbsp olive oil

25g/1oz butter

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Freshly grated parmesan, to serve

Step 1 - Soak the porcini mushrooms in hot water for 10 minutes, then drain well. Heat the oil in a large, heavy based saucepan and add the onion and garlic. Fry over a gentle heat for 2-3 minutes, until softened. Add the chestnut mushrooms and fry for a further 2-3 minutes, until browned.
Step 2 - Stir in the rice and coat in the oil. Pour in the wine and simmer, stirring, until the liquid has been absorbed. Add a ladleful of the stock and simmer, stirring again, until the liquid has been absorbed. Continue adding the stock in this way, until all the liquid has been absorbed and the rice is plump and tender.
Step 3 - Roughly chop the soaked porcini mushrooms and stir into the risotto, along with the parsley, butter and salt and pepper. Serve with freshly grated Parmesan.

Step 2 - Pour the oil into the bottom of a baking dish, and arrange the sausages over it in a single layer. Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven.

Step 3 - Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, eggs and half of the milk until smooth. Gradually mix in the rest of the milk until a smooth batter is achieved. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 4 – Remove the sausages from the oven, and ladle the batter over them until the sausages are 3/4 covered. Return to the oven, and bake for 35 minutes, or until the centre is risen and browned. Don’t worry if the underside seems slightly soft, as this is normal.

Step 3 - Grill for 3 mins on this side, then turn the burgers over and cook for 2 more mins
Step 4 - Check the burgers are cooked to the middle by cutting into one and see if it is still pink. If it is then grill for another min or so until it looks ready.

See top right.

Step 2: Chop the vegetables

De-seed the 3 different coloured peppers. Thinly slice them and the onions and put them aside on a plate.

Step 3: Prepare the chicken

Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips, about 3cm long.

Step 4: Make the marinade

Grate the rind of one of the limes into a bowl then squeeze the juice from both. Into this, add the caster sugar, oregano, cayenne, cinnamon and season with salt and pepper. Mix together well.

Step 5: Marinate the chicken

Add the chicken strips and mix until all the pieces are coated. Set aside to marinate for at least 30 minutes – however, the longer you can leave it, the more the juices will soak in.

Step 6: Cook the chicken

Heat the oil in the pan or griddle over a high temperature until smoking hot. Add the chicken and the marinade and cook until tender. This will take approximately 4-5 minutes.

1 . Spaghetti Bolognese

30ml olive oil

400g Beef mince

200ml beef stock

150ml Red wine

400g Chopped tomatoes

1 bay leaf

Salt

Ground Black Pepper

Spaghetti

Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over a medium heat for 1 minute. Add the Everyday Value onions with a little salt and sweat them for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Increase the heat and add the Everyday Value mince, browning well and stirring to break the meat up. Once browned, stir in the chopped Everyday Value tomatoes, then the Everyday Value stock and Everyday Value red wine and bring to the boil. The sauce will look quite thin at this point but it will thicken as it reduces.

Reduce the heat to a simmer and add the bay leaf. Cook for 45-50 minutes uncovered until the sauce has thickened, making sure to stir occasionally.

Once the sauce is ready, adjust the seasoning and keep warm. Cook the Everyday Value spaghetti in a large saucepan of boiling salted water according to packet instructions until ‘al dente’; usually 8-10 minutes. Drain and toss well with the sauce.
